One thing I have wrestled with my whole life is my God given sweet tooth! Chocolate, licorice (yes I like black licorice…would love to know if you do too, our kind has to stick together!) cake, pie, custard, cookies, or even better….cookie dough. You get the picture, I really like sweets. It is all too easy to overdose during the Holiday Season and we are left with that “ick” feeling come January. After a brainstorming sesh in order to identify a viable strategy to clean up my diet, I remembered how often I used to enjoy tea and how it would satisfy my sweet tooth perfectly! Then I remembered that I recently found a tea I am OBSESSED with and thought what a great idea it would be to replace my sweets with a cup of tea! I have become so accustomed to eating dessert, what feels like after every meal, and we know how addicting sugar is, so I had to find a way to trick myself. I knew it would not be easy to quit dessert cold turkey, so instead I am replacing my ritualistic dessert with a cup of tea!
I was so glad I found this tea company especially since my favorite tea retailer no longer exists. As a self proclaimed tea snob (I used to work at a tea bar as my high school job), I learned to appreciate high quality tea. Harney & Sons takes quality very seriously and even produces high quality tea packaged in tea bags, which is normally hard to find. I really love everything about their company and their tea, so I decided to stalk up so I would be well equipped to employ my new strategy.
My absolute favorite tea of theirs is the Hot Cinnamon Sunset, it is a winter must have! It almost doesn’t need sugar. Although they have everything from Cherry Blossom (another fav) to Coconut. The history and culture of this classic beverage is such a beautiful and wonderful tradition to be cherished. I enjoy my tea with a little sugar or honey, which still turns out to be less calories than if I were to eat a cookie or some other type of dessert.
I found this dress at Chicwish which is the PERFECT teatime dress (and it’s under $55). A great transition dress for Spring. I paired it with navy tights and my blue bow heels. You could also pair it with black for a classic look. Chicwish is one of my absolute favorite places to shop, I basically scroll through their site and want every. single. one. of their items! And I had so much fun using one of my favorite tea cups. I brought it back from Germany many years ago and it is a fun keepsake to use especially when it reminds me of wonderful travel memories.
