Ohhhhh Sephora…..I remember the day I first got my VIB card. I was at Sephora in South Park Mall in Charlotte, North Carolina. I was probably about 15. I remember being so excited and even more excited about all the cool gifts I was going to get as a member. To this day, Sephora has not disappointed. They probably have one of the best loyalty programs I am part of. Especially considering how often I am able to choose a gift from that brilliant glass case at the check out counter. Does that make me a make up addict? Ok, well I guess I can live with that. So on an even more exciting note today on my Instagram you will find a giveaway for a $400 Sephora gift card, and in case you need some ideas on how to spend that, I have some for you below.
Just to give you an idea, all of this barely even puts a dent in that $400…
Let’s start off with one of my absolute favorites. Too Faced Bronzer!!! I wear this EVERY SINGLE DAY. What I love about it most is, it doesn’t have any pink or orange undertones that could potentially give you the oompa loompa look. It also has a very faint pleasant scent to it, but to be honest I have used it so long I don’t even notice a scent anymore.
Ok, next up is an important one. This is my absolute favorite lipstick. Yes, I know, that is a bold statement, but it’s true. Yes, it is a little on the pricey side, but let me assure you it is worth it. You know when your lips are super dry and you need chapstick, but you really want to put lipstick on but then you end up putting on chapstick and the chapstick doesn’t actually help, well if you put this lipstick over your dry cracky lips, it actually heals them and your lipstick ends up looking great! So just grab one of these and test it out for yourself, Sephora is really good about returns or exchanges. I picked this beautiful color, Beige Blouse (pictured above) perfect for transitioning into Fall.
I happen to get a lot of questions about mascara and I must go with the original go to mascara as my recommendation. Mascara is one of those things I am never really loyal about, but wish I was. I still think you can’t go wrong with Dior, it is the best and blackest. It’s a staple. Even if you like to try other mascaras you should probably keep this one in your makeup bag at all times. Also, I am a major stickler for changing my mascara every 3 months. I really can’t afford an eye infection. Gross.
I discovered the Hourglass brand a couple of years ago, and use their stuff pret-ty regularly. The consistency of their shadows and blushes are really good. Velvety but still pigmented. I am always attracted to pretty soft pinks when it comes to blush and I absolutely love this color. I also like that it is mixed with highlighter. Gotta love a good highlighter!
Speaking of highlighter….THIS ONE. First of all, I really like Marc Jacobs make up, I have a Marc Jacobs lipstick from one of Sephora’s point reward gifts. The color is great and the texture is great too. I always get compliments on the color. The Marc Jacobs mascara is also GREEEE-ATE! You know how I talked about trying different mascaras? Make Marc Jacobs your next trial run! Ok ok, back to the highlighter, this is a beautiful golden bronzy highlighter, you can mix it in with your foundation, but that is probably not an everyday look. You can also apply it in contour areas you want to highlight and I have personally experimented with applying over my powder for a more dramatic look. This one also has a slight scent to it, but it is ever so lovely, and is comprised of coconuts, great for beach time reminiscing.
Pro Tip – exfoliate before use
Giiiiiiirllll! You better make sure your brows are on point. Ok, I don’t talk like that in real life. But in all seriousness with the whole microblading brow craze, I hope you have learned the importance of having a great brow! I have found that if you have brow troubles, it can actually age you in my personal opinion. So having a nice full contoured brow is the right way to go. This is also a product I have used for years, I use a very thin angled brow brush to apply, and feather it on. After applying let it dry a couple minutes to make sure it sets, then you are good for the rest of the day!
Neeeeeeext….man if only y’all could read this in the same voice that I hear in my head as I am writing, you would have even MORE fun! Ok so here is the deal, you know how you have to have insurance otherwise you get a penalty? Well the same goes for your eye shadow, you have to have insurance or else you get a penalty, it is called middle of day oily eye shadow on your eyes. Especially depending on how much of your eyeshadow you are even able to keep on during the day. This stuff is a must have! Whether you win the Sephora gift card or not (remember to enter for that right here) you HAVE to buy this. You will be so happy.
*Pro Tip – a little goes a long way!
Okie dokie, last but certainly not least is (please prepare French accent) Yves Saint Laurent Foundation stick. When I tested this out in the store and felt how velvety it was, I knew I had to have it. I use this more as a concealer, right under the eye, but it is also great for smoothing over the areas you want to highlight. I suggest taking a brush and sweeping the foundation stick with it, then applying it to your face. If you want heavier coverage (like under the eye) then you can apply it directly to your face and then use a brush to blend.
So there you have it…. just a couple of products you can use with your Sephora Gift Card.
