You can’t have a proper pool day without a pool tote. This is your chance to find something fun and whimsical, don’t cart around a boring pool bag . . . it is so unfun.
A bath towel just won’t do, I prefer extra large towels anyway and you have to have a colorful beach towel to go along with your fun bag. Probably the worst thing that could happen is to get to the pool and realize you don’t have your sunglasses with you. Pack these first!
When I take time to relax, I want to be reeeeally comfortable. This means, I need a pillow. This ADORABLE flamingo pillow was only 5 bucks at Target!
It is so important to stay hydrated while at the pool especially because of the sun. I adore this fun and bright tumbler, it just feels pool dayish!
The sunnies aren’t enough y’all! Make sure you bring your hat to cover your face, even if you do have sunblock on! It is especially helpful to block the sun when you are trying to read your favorite poolside magazines!
Even though this happens to be number 6. . . it is actually the number ONE most important pool day essential! No one wants to accelerate the skin aging process! (at least I don’t think so . . . that would be weird . . .) Protect yourself from the sun, wear your sunblock! I love Elta MD’s Broad Spectrum for my face because my skin is prone to breaking out and I love spray sunblock for the rest. It is so much faster to apply and makes it waaaaaay easier to reapply, which you should make sure you are doing at least every 80 minutes or so.
This one here is right next to your sunblock as far as importance goes . . .
One of my least favorite things to do is go to the pool, remove my bathing suit cover up and blind all of the innocent bystanders with my melanin lacking skin. In order to prevent that debacle I like to prepare in advance at least a couple of days before hand by applying self tanner. This year I found Jergen’s Instant Sun and it has become one of my new favorites! It is under $20 bucks, it gives you instant color, but also has self tanner in it so you have long lasting color. My tip for this: apply with gloves!
Thank goodness I can knock riding a big swan pool float around off my bucket list! Would life have been complete otherwise? My tip for this: use an airpump . . . the float pictured was actually blown up the old fashioned way ha!
Aside from your sunblock and your bathing suit this is next in line for the most important.
