So I have a LOT of hair. Every time I have a hair appointment I preface my consultation with this fact, but it usually gets brushed off (no pun intended haha). About half way through the appointment I am always told “Wow, you have a lot of hair!” In efforts to be polite and maintain proper manners I refrain from saying (outloud)… “I told you so…”
For me the simple task of washing my hair is incredibly cumbersome, a huge undertaking and very time consuming. It must be scheduled into my days and if it turns out to be past 9 o’clock before I get to it…you can forget about it….
Having briefed you…the obvious comes to light, my hair is very important to me and something I invest a lot of time into. Therefore, I want it to look the best it can all the time.
I finally found a hair salon I am willing to go to regularly and have actually started to trust the stylists there with my massive mane (who knew finding a salon in a new city was a job in itself….especially Dallas where we are known for hair!) It was meant to be, because the Salon carries my all time, the best in the world, favorite hair products…Davines!!!
I recently ran out of my beloved products and was forced to resort to a generic brand that I had laying around in case of emergency. What a blow drying nightmare that turned out to be! First of all, the conditioner left a film on my hair that makes it feel like I never washed it in the first place, and on top of that it is not nearly as moisturizing as it needs to be. Davises makes a huge difference in styling my hair. It makes it so much easier to blow dry and is soft and silky the minute it is dry. I can not wait until my next hair appointment when I am able to stock up on the good stuff! Davines caters to all hair types. I personally switch back and forth between “Melu” for long hair and “Nou Nou” for damaged. Before blow drying I mist my hair with Oi All in One Milk, which is practically a little piece of heaven. It smells amazing and turns my hair to silk. After blow drying, I use nickel size of Oi Oil and run my hands through my hair.
I usually wash my hair 3 times a week and wear it in a pony tail or use dry shampoo in between (most of the time it meets the standard just by brushing and some hairspray and I am able to walk out of the house).
The major thing here is how important your hair products are in your hair maintenance routine and can truly make or break the end result (gosh I love a good pun!). Simply put, taking care of your hair and investing time and attention into your locks is something every girl should incorporate into her regimen. You know the saying… The Higher the Hair the Closer to God. (wink!)
